49 min “Afternoon Rob, and Happy Easter!” says Simon McMahon. “Talking of close finishes, Dundee United’s only league title won in 1983 was pretty tight. We needed to win at Dens on the last day, and duly managed it 2-1. Had Dundee equalised, however, both United and Celtic, who won 4-2 at Ibrox, could have finished on the same points, to provide a source same wide variety of goals scored and conceded. A play off would have been arranged, I do think, to determine the winner. Imagine that! And Aberdeen might also have pipped both into the title had results gone their way within the final day. The next league table read:

  • United 56pts GD +55
  • Celtic 55pts GD +54
  • Aberdeen 55pts GD +51.”

48 min Mendez-Laing’s inswinging cross is headed onto the roof from the net by way of the leaping Morrison, who couldn’t defeat the ball and looped it gently towards goal. His shirt was tugged briefly by Robertson, though I have no idea there were enough for that penalty.

“Peep!” says Allan Castle. “Halftime – Arsenal 0 Crystal Palace 1. Up to now, a throwback to late stage Wenger. Arsenal dominating possession but unimaginative within the final third. Palace defending en masse making essentially the most of the best opportunity. They could also have three, nevertheless for a superb double save by Leno shortly before halftime accompanied by Benteke blazing across the bar. Arsenal missing the wit along with of Aaron Ramsey, though ?zil came more to the game as being the half wore on. Palace might be deservedly happy. Emery must shuffle his pack.”

45 min The second corner triggers another devastating Liverpool break. Henderson slightly overhits a pass down the left to Alexander-Arnold, whose cross is headed behind for any Liverpool corner.

44 min: Good save from Alisson! The corner was headed towards side of the location, where Camarasa mis-hit a volley on the ground. It bounced about Niasse, who shinned an effort within the turn from six yards that has been palmed over by Alisson. It was actually a cushty save really, but Niasse may have done better.

11.40am EDT
11:40

40 min We have seen no sign of panic from Liverpool, even though there is actually a burgeoning frustration. I still think they’ll win comfortably – this is a hard shift, specifically in this heat, to guard for thus long. Cardiff haven’t a decent attack for approximately Quarter-hour.

39 min Mane, played through on goal by Matip, is flagged offside. It turned out a seriously close call, using this program . unclear he was off.

38 min “Update for 2011-12,” says Phil Grey. “W28 D5 L5.”

Aye. It’ll be many decades before we see a top-notch League title race making use of these an impressive finish, though the quality wasn’t always that top. Both sides did a Devon Loch at different stages. I’d be blown away hopefully happens this year.

36 min Liverpool are so dangerous within the break from opposition corners. Henderson curls an extended pass to Salah, who efforts to run the previous man Manga and it’s eventually dispossessed just in the area.

11:34

34 min: Fine save by Etheridge! Henderson’s through pass bounced off Manga within the path of Salah, who flicked it towards the near post with the over and above his left foot. Etheridge flew from his line for making an outstanding stop. It will think that an objective is coming.

31 min Alexander-Arnold flashes a fine cross on the near post, where Mane gets ahead of Morrison and knocks the bouncing ball within the bar from six yards. It had become an instinctive effort, so I’d be loath to call it an unsatisfactory miss.

30 min “Hi Rob,” says Phil Grey. “I’m not visiting conisder that it’s not an exceptionally thrilling title race, however can’t believe people go further back than Several years ago when evaluating something similar. City and United both finished on W25 D5 L5 and City won on goal difference, basically caused by winning 6-1 at Old Trafford. And just how can anyone forget the direction they beat QPR???”

None people are likely to forget the 35-game season.

11.25am EDT
11:25

25 min Another excellent run from Mendez-Laing, who beats Alexander-Arnold twice about the left before lofting a cross that may be cleared desperately by Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold has brought an extremely bad start defensively.

Facebook

Twitter

11.23am EDT
11:23

22 min: Dreadful miss from Firmino! It would be a high-class move from Liverpool. Salah acted ball square to Mane, who slipped a scrumptious through pass to Firmino in the market. He looked bound to score but leant back and curled the ball in the bar in reference to his left foot. Firmino looked round to find out if he was offside, probably hoping he was. He wasn’t.

15 min: Potential for Cardiff! Mendez-Laing roasts Alexander-Arnold and crosses after dark far post to Hoilett. His first touch is a bit heavy and this allows Robertson depict and block our next shot. The resulting corner is palmed away unconvincingly by Alisson and Liverpool break dangerously through Salah, who efforts to run Peltier and loses the ball.

4 min “What do MU fans do on Wed?” says Peter Campbell. “Surely they’d hate to give Liverpool the danger with regard to their first title in 29yrs. But they also can’t lose to City at home or fall further behind for a champions league spot. I believe if they’d performed better today MU fans might well have stomached a loss of revenue to City and not anymore. Thoughts?”

I suspect, regardless of the contradiction, that a lot of would prefer to City win the league whilst wanting United to interrupt in the odd sprint without lose on Wednesday.

Matt Dony is putting his darts within the top pocket

“Can I really do the first to consider my sincerest congratulations to City for winning the league. I’ll just prepare myself for next season, see what fresh disappointment the 2019/20 season brings. Ah, that’s unfair. It is been faraway from a disappointment. Liverpool are actually brilliant. It’s just that City are actually slightly brillianter. I’d wish to see Liverpool win each of their remaining league games, because 97 points is unbelievable. But, should they absolutely must drop points, I’d rather obtain drop by Cardiff than anybody else. I’ve enjoyed having this sort of good run of Welsh representation in the Premier League. I don’t want to find it end yet. And then, if Liverpool did drop points, then United pulled something out from the bag on Wednesday, it’d probably break something deep inside me. (Doesn’t come off as too likely, though.)”

If City become champions by winning their last 14 games, which I think they’ll, then a salut indeed. Also: Porto fans recognize how you (might) feel.

“When considering stopping Liverpool, Cardiff have one advantage on Barcelona: none of us expects these phones play open and attacking football with the world’s deadliest attacking trio simply because they’re playing in your house (though Warnock like a maverick they most likely will),” says Phil Podolsky. “As a Barca fan and widely respected tactical mastermind, We would play a double pivot of Busquets and Vidal behind Rakitic & Arthur to be on the safe side. But then Vidal is a chaotic presence and Liverpool thrive on chaos… The quandaries a modern day tactician is faced with, I tell ya…”

That tie is likely to be immense. I really do fancy Liverpool, especially with the other leg from home. I would not attend all surprised if Valverde played a gemstone midfield, like he did at Betis a couple of weeks ago, with Vidal within the left.
