Former All-Star pitcher Loaiza arrested with over 20kg of heroin or cocaine
The former All-Star pitcher Esteban Loaiza is at prison on charges of getting over 20 kilos (44lbs) of heroin or cocaine. The 46-year-old has been held on $200,000 bail plus faces charges of having narcotics for sale and possession and transportation of narcotics on the market.
Loriza was arrested in North park on Friday and often will include court on Wednesday. The pitcher, who made nearly $44m during his 14 seasons in the major leagues, became a two-time All-Star and led the American League in strikeouts in 2003. His best years were while using Chicago White Sox but he also had spells with all the Pirates, Blue Jays, Yankees, Dodgers, A’s and Rangers amongst others.
During his time together with the A’s in 2006 Loriza was charged with driving his Ferrari at 120mph over a freeway and then failed a sobriety test.
He was married towards the singer Jenni Rivera until her death in the plane crash this year. The happy couple were while the divorce during the time of Rivera’s death.
